Four years after becoming king of Atlantis, Arthur Curry, now married to Mera and father to Arthur Jr., balances life between land and sea. Meanwhile, David Kane, also known as Black Manta, seeks revenge against Arthur for his father’s death. He collaborates with marine biologist Stephen Shin to locate Atlantean artifacts and discovers a cavern in Antarctica housing the Black Trident. This artifact possesses Manta and imbues him with the power to destroy Arthur and Atlantis.
Manta breaks into Atlantis’s Orichalcum reserve to power ancient machines, raising planetary temperatures and causing extreme weather. To counter Manta, Arthur frees his half-brother Orm from prison, and together, they track Manta to a volcanic island in the South Pacific. The brothers navigate mutated flora and fauna, battle Manta’s forces, and uncover the origins of the Black Trident, created by Kordax, an ancient ruler imprisoned in the lost kingdom of Necrus.
Arthur and Orm’s final confrontation with Manta and Kordax leads to a climactic battle in Necrus. With help from Mera, they defeat Kordax and destroy the Black Trident.
